ABOUT RESEARCH DAY
Panel Discussions: This year, we’re hosting 3 insightful panels featuring distinguished voices from across our community. These sessions are designed to give you exclusive access to expert perspectives on topics that matter most to SBME including defining SBME, future SBME faculty hiring priorities, and discussing career-making resources and tools that drive research success.
Debates: Get ready for dynamic, thought-provoking discussions as students and faculty go head-to-head on hot topics shaping the future of BME. This year’s debates will tackle real-world challenges and big questions, including alternative careers in BME and publishing in top journals.
Trainee Talks: Select trainees will present their research in short Trainee Talks. Come support them and learn about current research initiatives at SBME!
Poster Session: There is such a diverse range of biomedical research excellence at SBME. Our Poster Session gives BME trainees and staff the chance to share their findings with the community.
Lunch and coffee will be provided to those who RSVP!
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of biomedical engineering, engage with cutting-edge research, and celebrate the achievements of our talented researchers. UBC School of Biomedical Engineering Research Day is an event that promises inspiration, knowledge sharing, and the chance to be part of the conversation for the future direction of SBME!
FOR POSTER & TRAINEE PRESENTERS
KEY DATES
January 20: Deadline to submit abstracts for posters and trainee talks. Abstract submission counts as your RSVP.
There are 100 poster spots available and 11 trainee talks. If we receive more than 100 submissions, an adjudication team will review abstracts to select the top 100 posters and 11 trainee talks.
End of January: You will receive an email with the result of your poster/talk submission.
February 10: Deadline for poster presenters to upload their poster as a PDF to a Qualtrics form (link will be sent with the email closer to). To streamline the judging process for the poster contest, we now require presenters to upload a PDF of their completed poster one week before the event. This allows judges to begin their reviews ahead of time. Final evaluations of the posters will take place in-person on Research Day.
