Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in TAing: STEM

This session is part of the UBC Equity & Inclusion Office’s Teaching Assistant Workshop series.
Working as a Teaching Assistant is important work, learn how to navigate the challenges, so you can celebrate more successes. Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is not just about the content that you teach. It is also about how the class is set-up and conducted: how you use self-reflection and set expectations; how students interact with you and each other; and how student learning is assessed.
In this workshop, you will learn about power & privilege, the policies and guidelines that frame your work, and how best to support students as you navigate ethical dilemmas and potential conflicts. This session is foundational to supporting an equitable and inclusive learning environment, while enhancing department and program specific TA training.
