Sarah
Hedtrich

Associate Professor

Biography:

Dr. Hedtrich is a highly accomplished and internationally recognized scientist and educator. Her lab strives to understand and tackle inflammatory and genetic diseases of human epithelia with a focus on skin, lungs and more recently the intestine. Her lab's research relies almost exclusively on complex human-based organ- and organ-on-chip (OoC) models which provide an exciting opportunity to close the current translational gap in biomedical research. The Hedtrich lab develops and harnesses these models (1) to unravel pathological mechanisms and (2) to develop next-generation therapies with a focus on gene therapy.
