Human Interfacing Devices,Research Interests:
Development of mechatronic exercise systems for movement therapy and diagnostic technologies for improved sleep quality; research into human-robot interaction
Biography:
Dr. Van der Loos’s research interests encompass robotics (rehabilitation robotics and human-robot interaction) and design (design for safety, design methodology & coaching, and roboethics).
His current research focuses on inherently safe design of mobile manipulation robotic systems, development and testing of mechatronic exercise systems for stroke and CP therapy, development of robotic tools for improved understanding and treatment of human balance disorders and sensor systems for sleep quality analysis, and exploration of ethical design principles for robot interfaces and neurotechnologies.
