The School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) at The University of British Columbia is proud to congratulate Dr. Yanpu He on being named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Immuno-Bioengineering. The appointment was announced as part of the Government of Canada’s latest Canada Research Chairs program, recognizing outstanding researchers across the country. 

Dr. He is an Assistant Professor in SBME whose research focuses on protein and cellular engineering to develop next-generation immunotherapies for cancer, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders. Through innovative approaches in immuno-bioengineering, his lab is advancing technologies that harness and reprogram the immune system to address some of the most pressing challenges in human health.

This prestigious appointment reflects Dr. He’s leadership in biomedical innovation and highlights the growing impact of SBME research at the intersection of engineering, biology, and medicine. The Canada Research Chairs Program supports world-class researchers whose work strengthens Canada’s research ecosystem and helps train the next generation of scientists and engineers.
